OLD MILL MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM

LESLIE WHITE

Les White, of Leslie Homes in Macon, purchased Juliette's gristmill in 2000. Inspired by his passion for antique and vintage motorcycles, White renovated two floors of the gristmmill, about 2500 sq ft for the museum. In 2006, White moved his private residence to the main section of the gristmill.

White religiously reads books, like The Legend Begins: Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, 1903-1969 detailing each manufacturing year and parts used, down to the proper color and finish.

White usually collects parts and bikes at "swap meets" held about 12 times a year for motorcycle enthusiasts throughout the United States. "I pay people fair prices for things. You get a reputation if you buy and don't pay for it. I try to give a fair market value," White said.

Elizabeth Bryant, owner of the Whistle Stop Cafe, across the railroad tracks from the gristmill, said White's "a real positive influence on the community. He's done a super job with what he's had to work with . . ."
